I have always been deeply in love with our great music scene in Atlantic Canada, mainly because of its diversity in genres. It’s surprising to most nonnative east coasters having such great talent in our garages, lofts, pubs, and of course, backyards. One of the bands that has really made an impact is Wintersleep. With their new album coming out in May [New Inheritors], I couldn’t be more excited.

This band will blow you away and if you haven’t checked them out yet, do so now, like…right NOW (www.wintersleep.com). Aside from Wintersleep, the lead singer Paul Murphy had a cool side project he did with his brother Mike called Postdata (www.postdatamusic.com). His lyrics are profound and refreshingly original compared to most new bands. Ever since the release in January, it has been stuck on my “most played songs” playlist on my iPod. I recently had the opportunity to film his show in Halifax at the Sonic Temple to kick off his cross Canada tour with Julie Fader & Brian Borcherdt. This concert exceeded all of my expectations.
